DANDENONG DISTRICTS CRICKET UMPIRES ASSOCIATION

Umpires News and Information – 2017/2018 season

The Dandenong Districts Cricket Umpires’ Association (DDCUA) is based at Shepley Oval, Pultney Street, Dandenong.

Each season a pool of around 55 umpires is needed to provide for the seven Turf Grades in the DDCA Competition.

The DDCUA provides the necessary uniforms and equipment, plus training and support. Umpires meet fortnightly throughout the season for group training and appointments, in a great social atmosphere.

Most games are played from 1.00pm to around 6.30 pm on Saturdays, with some Sunday fixtures and occasional midweek Twenty20 and junior carnival games also. The competition stretches from Berwick and Cranbourne across to some bayside areas, including Mordialloc.

New Umpires welcome

If you’re a retired cricketer or perhaps a dad who has umpired regularly in the juniors, here’s a chance to get involved in the local game and earn some handy cash over the coming summer weekends.

People applying need to have their own transport and a good basic knowledge of the Laws of Cricket to start with us in the lower grades. Advancement to higher grades depends on performance and training.

A training course is provided by the Umpire's Association to Level 2 Accreditation standard, which takes about 20 hours throughout the season. Umpires need to achieve Level 2 Accreditation to be promoted to Turf 1 & Turf 2 in the DDCA competition.

For further information contact DDCUA Secretary Graham Allen on 0402 881 042 or DDCUA President Rory Ludowyk on 0407 300 833
