DDCA Under 21's Update 2019/2020
Date of Event Dandenong District Cricket Association: Wed Jan 22, 2020 2:08PM

The DDCA took on the Victorian Turf Cricket Association (VTCA) in the grand final of the VMCU Neil Wright Shield on Sunday 19th January at Hansen Reserve, West Footscray.

Unfortunately the DDCA was unable to defend its Premiership title as the scores indicate.

The VTCA batted first and declared its innings closed at 9/230 off 38 overs. Best DDCA bowlers were Blake Barnes - Parkfield - excellent figures of 5/25 off 6 overs & Jay Jhamb - Dingley - 2/37 off 4 overs.

In reply the DDCA could only muster 8/177 off its 40 overs, with Jay Jhamb having a good match with 51no, Captain Brayden Sharp - Springvale South - 48 & Jordan McDonnell - Berwick - 24.

The Under 21's had a reasonable carnival and finished on top of the ladder, so congratulations to all players in the squad.

The DDCA would also like to thank a number of people - Under 21 Coach, Craig Slocombe, ably assisted by Neil Shaw; DDCA (and Springvale South Turf 1) scorer, Chris Osborne and umpire, Brett Roberts who stood in all our games.

Thanks also to the parents and supporters who attended out games.

The DDCA is grateful to the Hallam Kalora Park CC for hosting two of our preliminary matches and providing their facilities, including one of the best spreads for lunch.

The VMCU Neil Wright Shield Competition only had four associations playing this year, which is unsatisfactory.

The VMCU also could not have any representation at the grand final due to other commitments, including the Junior Carnival finals.

This lack of support was disappointing
