Junior Academy

The DDCA Cricket Academy commenced in 2021, and it has proven a great initiative by the Association. Every year we have had over 100 participants attend the sessions.
The aim of the Academy is not to find the next Test Cricketer but to improve our DDCA young players with all facets of their game and their attitude towards the game. The Academy sessions are in May and June every year.
There are 8 sessions with 6 being at Casey Stadium in Cranbourne and the other 2 being outdoors. The Indoor sessions are on Wednesday nights and Outdoor sessions are on Saturday mornings.
In May / June 2025 the DDCA Academy had 110 participants, which were broken down into 4 groups. • Under 10 Boys and Girls of all ages • Under 12s • Under 14s • Under 16s and Over-age players
The Academy is headed up by DDCA Hall of Famer, Craig Slocombe and Women’s Premier player Hayleigh Brennan. They were assisted by former Sri Lankan International player Jeevan Mendis and local legend and Coach at Richmond Cricket Club, John Mark.
Attendees of the Academy also will receive an invite to VMCU Representative training.
Registrations of Interest for the 2026 Academy will open in February 2026.
